As far as I can remember, I have always had a passion for pregnant women and infants, so much so that I initially planned on finishing up my nursing degree and becoming a Labor and Delivery nurse or a neonatologist! However, as a black mother, I am also all too familiar with the systemic racism and disparities that plague the maternal BIPOC community. The rate of black maternal deaths are 4x that of white counterparts, which is unacceptable. After my own traumatic birthing experiences, I felt the need to be a part of the solution in assisting families in the BIPOC community with having the births they DESIRE and DESERVE! Through this passion for the safety of pregnant women and newborns, I decided to switch gears and become a Doula, which lead me into creating my business Intimate Birthing, LLC.
